For research on persecution-related fates and life paths, inquiries with authorities, religious communities, work and friendship groups, associations, lodges or their umbrella organizations can be helpful. However, an inquiry should only be made when it becomes apparent that one's own research efforts have reached their limits. After all, it is usually not the main task of the organizations concerned to provide support in personal research, but in many cases the willingness to provide support is a friendly gesture.
