Basic Information
Description
The number of Jewish students and professors allowed in public schools must not exceed the percentage of Jews in the total population. The Act adopts the definition of “non-Aryan” from the Civil Service legislation of 7 April 1933 which was even more radical than later definitions in the Nuremberg race laws of September 1935. According to this, one Jewish grandparent makes a person Jewish in National Socialist terms. Exceptions were made for First World War combatants and civil servants from the Empire, as concessions to Hindenburg. These were irrelevant for students.
